ABOUT US

Who We Are

Life without clean water can seem unimaginable but for millions of people it's a daily reality. Lifewater Nigeria partner with children, families, and their communities to reach their full potential by tackling the water crisis through the provision of clean water, basic toilets and promotion of good hygiene practices in Nigeria.

According to UNICEF

1. Poor access to improved water and sanitation in Nigeria remains a major contributing factor to high morbidity and mortality rates among children under five.

2. Using contaminated drinking water and poor sanitary conditions results in increased vulnerability to water-borne diseases, including diarrhoea, which leads to deaths of over 70,000 children under five annually.

3. Seventy-three percent of the diarrhoeal and enteric disease burden is associated with poor access to adequate poorer children in disproportionately borne water, sanitation and hygiene.

4. Frequent episodes of WASH related ill-health in children contribute to absenteeism in school, and malnutrition.

5. Only 26.5 percent of the population use improved drinking water sources and sanitation facilities. Also, 23.5 percent of the population defecates in the open.

Our Promise

Every human being deserves a life rich in meaning and purpose. We work with the most vulnerable communities in Nigeria by taking hold of opportunities to show God's unconditional love. Our collective efforts connect each community to the opportunity to reach their true potential and fullness.

How We Started

The beginning of what is now known as Lifewater Nigeria, was in year 2000.

In 20 months, 290 new wells have been drilled, 454 rehabilitations, close to 160 pump repairs, 22 toilets constructed with an active 18-man workforce.

Our Vision

At Lifewater Nigeria, we draw our inspiration from Apostle Paul’s epistle to the brethren in Colossians 3:23-24 saying;

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.”

Inspired by our Christian faith, our focus is on helping the most vulnerable communities overcome the water crisis and the lack of hygiene.

Our Mission

To show the reality of God’s love through the provision of safe water and building of toilets for vulnerable communities.

To become the bridge of hope for visionary leadership and national transformation.
