The absence of safe water in the Bako Forest community has forced the rural dwellers to drink from any available source, mostly unhygienic.
School children often trek for about one hour to fetch clean water from the nearest town; otherwise, they use dirty water from the village stream.
The existing hand pumps got broken about two years ago, exposing the community to all forms of danger associated with scarcity of clean water.
The last outbreak of cholera was in March 2022. The cholera outbreak is closely related to a lack of water and poor hygiene in the community.
With the rehab- safe water is now available in the Bako Forest community can now experience improvement in health and wellbeing.
