Diko Bala is the spokesperson for the Kuchiko Gbagyi community. He was so emotional during our interview with him. He said, “I am a beneficiary of the splendid work that God is doing through Lifewater Canada. I am happy today because my community will no longer fear when the dry season sets in.”
During the dry season, the community suffers a lot from insufficient water. The residents depend on water vendors who always hike the price of water, making it difficult for most people to buy enough for their families. The excessive cost of purchasing water, leaves the residents with no option but to use water from the river.
The water from the river is not safe and has to go through purification processes before use. Not every family can afford to boil or add alum to purify their water. However, this is not the case anymore because of the intervention of Lifewater Canada.
