Gawu Kaura is a community in Niger State with dire water scarcity. For many years, their hand pump has been in a state of disrepair. With the community lacking the finances and the expertise to restore the hand pump, people depended on one open stream and a few hand-dug wells.  

However, with the help of donors, the hand pump is now functional. The use of unsafe water in the community has ended with the repair of the hand pump.
