Angwan Awwal Ibrahim has over two thousand people drawing from one functional hand pump. Alternatively, residents depend on vendors for water. The vendors sell 200 liters of water for 500 nairas (approximately  1 USD).

Angwan Awwal Ibrahim people are impoverished and can barely afford the money to buy water from vendors. The community has experienced outbreaks of waterborne diseases linked to the use of unsafe water.

The new well minimizes reliance on one hand pump; by over two thousand people. The residents can now draw safe water for their families, irrespective of their financial status.
